VW sales recovery gains momentum in June

Volkswagen brand sales climbed 15 percent in June as the German brand’s sales continue to recover from the diesel emissions violations.

Meanwhile, Audi’s sales rose another 5.3 percent last month to 19,416, the premium brand’s 78th consecutive month of sales records in the U.S.

Volkswagen reported 27,377 deliveries in June, including 1,547 repaired turbodiesels from the 2015 model year sold as new, a VW spokeswoman said.

Tiguan sales fell 43 percent in June as the brand sells down its remaining inventory to introduce an optional three-row version in dealerships later this summer. The current model will be continued as the Tiguan Limited into the 2018 model year.

VW said Golf Sportwagen sales more than doubled, pushing all Golf family vehicles up 28 percent for the month. Beetle and Beetle Convertible sales were collectively up 44 percent, while Jetta sales rose 16 percent. VW reported 2,413 Atlas sales in June, the second month the crossover has been on the market.

Audi’s sales were pushed higher by a double-digit increase from its Q7 crossover and a near-tripling in sales of its A5 coupe/convertible. A4 sales rose 7.9 percent in the month, while sales of the Q3 and Q5 crossovers were up slightly, the premium brand said.
