The man believed to have shot and killed a Taco Bell employee is in custody.

LAPD detectives arrested 39-year-old Jonathan Madden at his South Los Angeles home Monday.

News of the arrest came at candle vigil to remember the victim.

Dozens of family members and friends gathered at the Taco Bell where 41-year-old Alejandro Garcia worked, and was tragically killed.

The night started with a major announcement from LAPD Chief Michel Moore.

“We have identified who we believe is responsible for this heinous crime, this senseless violence,” he said.

He vowed to bring Alejandro Garcia’s family swift justice.

“We intend to bring the full weight of the criminal justice system for this terrible consequences of taking this man’s life from his family and all of us,” he said.

Garcia was gunned down after a confrontation at a drive-thru when a customer tried to pay with a counterfeit $20 bill.

Garcia’s 19-year-old son, Carlos, who was working alongside him that night, tearfully shared a message for all.

“If you have a father that’s still here, tell them that you love them, to hug them, because my dad, I never told him anything. And the day it happened, that was the only hug I ever gave him.”

“I hope one day I’m just like him. When I have my children, I just want to be like him.”
