A pregnant woman crashed the SUV she was driving into building early Thursday in Bellflower.

The woman was hospitalized after the 1 a.m. crash in the 9300 block of Los Angeles Street, near Santa Anita Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. No serious injuries were reported.

The woman’s boyfriend said she told him she fainted as she was about to turn onto his street.

“She didn’t know what she was doing until she woke up,” said Trent Tuitsi.

The SUV ended up inside a vacant business on the ground floor of the commercial and residential building, but residents on the upper floor were forced to evacuate until the building’s is deemed safe. It was unclear how many residents were evacuated, but they were allowed to return home later Thursday morning.

Residents in the apartments above the business said they felt the building shake.

“I was sitting in my living room and all of a sudden the whole building shook and I heard a huge crash,” a resident said. “Then we came running outside to find the car inside the building.”

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
