A massive power outage hit the city of Fullerton Monday night, with nearly 14,000 customers affected initially.

Southern California Edison said that 13,902 customers were initially affected and that 12,780 customers were still without powers in Fullerton as of 10:40 p.m.

There was a problem at a substation on South Harbor Boulevard and West Walnut Avenue but no specific cause for the outage was immediately known, SCE said.

There were no boundaries for the outage and no estimated restoration time immediately available, SCE said.

SCE also said that it was investigating if heat was a factor.

In addition, 1,400 customers were without power in Valencia according to SCE, City News Service reported.
