Women’s History Month as a national celebration dates back to 1981 when Congress passed a Public Law that authorized the president to declare the week starting March 7 as Women’s History Week.

Throughout the years, celebrations have taken place across the county and women continue to be memorialized for their accomplishments.

In honor of Women’s History Month, Lyft is taking it upon themselves to help educate the public about women’s accomplishment in their city. How they’re doing it? The ride-sharing service is offering a 10 percent discount to places that commemorate women’s contribution, and to select women-owned businesses.

Get a discount off a Lyft ride, using the code WHMLAX19, to or from the following places in Los Angeles:

  • Forest Lawn Museum: The museum is currently exhibiting and highlighting the work of 11 award-winning female photojournalists from National Geographic.
  • Coolhaus: The co-founders of Coolhaus ice cream are a couple of Los Angeles’ natives best friends that started baking cookies and making ice cream as a hobbie. With their backgrounds in architecture and real estate, Natasha Cashe and Freya Estreller paired their passion and created a company that now distributes their product to over 6,000 grocery stores.
