An investigation was underway Thursday night after a police shooting in Pasadena, officials said.
The incident happened in the 200 block of North Oakland Avenue just after 9 p.m., according to the Pasadena Police Department. Video from the scene showed an Audi that had bullet holes.
Police say three people — an officer, the driver and the passenger of the vehicle — were injured in the encounter, but none from gunshot wounds. They were all taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.
“This is not our patrol team. It’s part of our special crimes unit, so our SEU unit,” Pasadena police Lt. Monica Cuellar said. “They do other programs and other plans than we do as patrol.”
Cuellar said three officers were part of the operation that led to the encounter. More details about that operation were not released.
“Our street crimes unit, they are mainly our gang unit and our problem quality of life unit,” Cuellar said.
The investigation is ongoing.
