Huntington Hospital and Cedars-Sinai Health System have signed a letter of intent for the hospital to affiliate with Cedars’ health network.

The letter includes commitments for continued investment in the 619-bed not-for-profit hospital in the form of enterprise information technology, ambulatory services and physician development.

Jaynie Studenmund, who chairs the hospital’s board of directors, said the partnership will help secure Huntington’s future and “further strengthen the communities we serve.”

Cedars-Sinai Health System was established in 2017 to provide a platform for healthcare institutions to collaborate and share resources and expertise.

It’s comprised of Cedars-Sinai (which includes Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital, as well as its network of physicians and medical offices throughout Southern California) and Torrance Memorial (which includes Torrance Memorial Medical Center, its network of physicians and medical offices throughout the South Bay).

Huntington, at 100 W. California Blvd., anticipates that shared clinical expertise from the affiliation will benefit its patients, physicians and allied clinical staff. Philanthropy and volunteer support will remain locally controlled, hospital officials said.

With the letter of intent completed, Cedars-Sinai and Huntington will begin work on a definitive agreement. It remains business as usual at Huntington and there is currently no plan for a change in job positions.
