Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has dropped $3.48 million on a Cape Cod-style home for his mom in Encino.
Tucked behind a gate on a half-acre corner lot, it has six bedrooms and five bathrooms with a pool and spa in the backyard.
The 50-year-old wrestler-turned-movie star posted on Instagram that it “took me and my design team 8 weeks” to prepare for the big reveal, which was captured on video to Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s medley of “Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World.”
From the moment an emotional Ata walks through the front doors, her new home’s natural light-filled, all-white interior with dark floors comes into view.
A fireplace anchors the great room, featuring bookcases and a wall of French windows and doors. The gourmet kitchen has navy-colored cabinetry, a custom tile backsplash and Carrera marble countertops. It also contains a breakfast nook.
For more formal meals, there’s a separate dining room.
The primary suite has ample closet space and a bathroom with a freestanding tub and an oversized shower done in marble tile. It and several rooms throughout the house open to the hedge-enclosed backyard that, in addition to the pool, features a grassy lawn with several lounge areas, a built-in barbecue and a game area.
There’s also a basketball half-court near the three-car garage.
F. Ron Smith and David Berg of Smith & Berg Partners at Compass shared the listing. Lauren Ravitz at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties and Bianca Aubrey at Compass represented Johnson.
After a successful career as a professional wrestler, Johnson became a top-grossing box-office star whose perks include buying mom not one but “a few homes over the years,” he said on Instagram.
Johnson is best known for “The Fast and the Furious” and “Jumanji” franchise films and has appeared in the HBO series “Ballers.” But you can catch him this summer as the voice of Krypto the Superdog in Warner Bros. Pictures’ “DC League of Super-Pets,” followed by “Black Adam” as the title character.
The superhero film, a spinoff of the 2019 film “Shazam!,” is scheduled for release this fall.
