“Dallas” star Linda Gray has put her beloved Santa Clarita estate of the last 50 years on the market for just shy of $3 million.
Trees surround the gated, private 2.7-acre property dubbed “Oak Tree Ranch,” comprised of a three-bedroom principal residence by modernist architect A. Quincy Jones and a two-bedroom, two-story guest house that totals 4,800 square feet of living space.
There are four bathrooms throughout.
Gray, 81, and then-husband Ed Thrasher fell hard for the rural land they stumbled on while helping out-of-state friends shop for horse property.
That was several years before the actress shot to fame on the CBS’s primetime soap “Dallas” in 1978. For 12 seasons, she played Sue Ellen Ewing, the long-suffering, alcoholic wife of rogue Texas oil scion J.R. Ewing, famously portrayed by a cowboy hat-wearing, Larry Hagman.
She reprised the role for a 2012 reboot.
Sitting at the hearth in the living room, Gray recalls in a video promoting the listing how her art director ex-husband invited Jones to take a look at their new property. The Los Angeles-based architect ended up designing the home, which went up in 1973.
“I adored it here, and I still do — it’s an oasis,” Gray gushed, interspersing that promo video with words like “love” and “fabulous” over and over again.
Reclaimed heart pine floors salvaged from a schoolhouse in New Orleans run throughout the airy interior.
Large, bare tree trunks add what Gray called “the finishing touch to what was already beautiful” in the main living area, with its high open beam tongue-and-groove ceilings and glass walls.
A fireplace warms the primary bedroom from its spot high on the wall, so its flames are visible while reclining on the bed.
There’s another fireplace in the spa-like primary bathroom.
The home also features a professional-style cook’s kitchen designed by architect Josh Schweitzer, husband of famed L.A. chef Mary Sue Milliken. It features a built-in pizza oven, ample counter space, below-counter shelves and hanging racks for easy access to pots and pans.
One of many skylights throughout the house illuminates the dining room.
There’s office and gym space.
Stables for four horses with a separate tack room, a tennis court that faces north and south, and a large pool with a spa add to the perks.
The grounds also feature a koi pond, chicken coop and wide expanses of lawn.
Billy Rose, Natasha Sizlo and Andrea Korchek of The Agency share the listing.
